With 2022 in full swing, we’re well into a New Year’s resolution that’s a joy to stick to: our commitment to clean ingredients. After all, clean, natural, and safe ingredients are at the heart of every Inner Beauty formula. They’re what we know, what we use, and what we love! But we also understand that “clean” is a designation that may mean different things to different people. So, this January, we’re furthering our commitment to the clean makeup ingredients that make up Inner Beauty, and defining what we mean by “clean.” 

What We Mean by “Clean” Ingredients

Since our founding, Inner Beauty Cosmetics has been on a mission to deliver beautiful, effective, and easy-to-use formulas that are made to work for everyone— especially for sensitive bodies and skin.  What do we mean by “clean” ingredients? At Inner Beauty, we define clean as harmless to people and the planet, non-toxic, and highly vetted for safety and efficacy. For us, the best makeup ingredients are high-performing, natural ingredients. These are always our first choice, because we trust and honor Mother Nature to gently nourish our skin. So, you’ll notice the plant-derived oils, botanical essences, and floral waters that create our natural lipstick, tinted lip gloss, clean mascara, in all of our clean makeup formulas.  But we also know that sometimes, synthetic ingredients help to boost the longevity, safety, and performance of such delicate natural ingredients. At times, we do use synthetic ingredients in Inner Beauty products so they perform just as they should, every time. As part of our commitment to clean and safe ingredients, however, these are safe synthetics, meaning they’ve been reviewed by a team of chemists and toxicologists to ensure they meet the exacting safety standards we’ve set so even sensitive bodies can use our products without worry.

How We Choose Ingredients for Inner Beauty Products

Choosing clean ingredients for Inner Beauty formulas means choosing safe, non-toxic ingredients that can perform as beauty skin care. Whether you’re seeking foundation for sensitive skin or natural cosmetics to add a pretty pop of color, we’ve chosen ingredients that nourish, moisturize, and soothe even sensitive skin while you wear it. In other words: Inner Beauty is skincare makeup! We look for ingredients that are free from all types of gluten (wheat, rye, barley, or crossbreeds of these grains) so even those living with Celiac can use our clean makeup. We also make sure to formulate Inner Beauty products without common food allergens, like peanuts and tree nuts, and without synthetic fragrances or flavors. Taste a trace of citrus or vanilla? Those are from real oils and spices. And when we choose natural ingredients, we avoid GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). We’re proud that each and every one of our plant-derived ingredients is non-GMO. And we’re equally as proud that our formulas are free from ingredients that cause harm—including 21 of them on our “never ever” list. 

What Our Ingredients Do

Skincare makeup starts with skincare-grade ingredients. Our cruelty-free formulas are infused with ingredients that work to care for skin every time you use them. Plant, nut and seed butters like jojoba oil—which most closely mimics skin’s own sebum— and shea butter are renowned for their deeply moisturizing and antioxidant properties. Together, these emollient ingredients keep skin comfortably soft without ever feeling heavy or occlusive.  Ingredients like castor oil, apricot oil, and calendula flower extract calm irritation, nourish dry skin, and keep it moisturized, while cherry and cranberry waters fight free radicals that can lead to oxidative stress and premature signs of aging.  And coconut oil and cacao butter, rich in antioxidants and natural antibacterial properties, moisturize and soften skin while leaving it looking plump and healthy-looking.  As we embark on 2022, we hope you’ll join us in making clean ingredients part of your New Year’s resolution, too.
